In the last week or so, quilters have been coming up with some great ways to help those affected by the Boston Marathon bombing. Two collaborative projects are discussed below - if you hear of anything else, let us know and we'd be happy to share it on the blog, too.
The Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild is hosting To Boston With Love. They are collecting flags for love- and peace-themed buntings to be displayed in Boston, hopefully in June 2013.
Requirements, examples, and further details are available on their website. Flags must be received by May 31, 2013.
Quilts for Boston is being coordinated by the Boston Modern Quilt Guild. They are requesting blue and yellow blocks that are 12.5" tall by any width. They are also looking for fabric donations for binding, sashing, and backing fabric. Blocks are due by May 24, 2013. Details can be found at their website.
If you are planning to participate in either of these projects, leave a comment on this blog post - especially if you'd like to coordinate collecting and mailing blocks from PghMQG members!

Thank you for posting this, Melissa. Hopefully a few of us have some time to contribute to one or both of these efforts. Let's spread a little cheer with quilting!
ReplyDeleteI am interested in participating. I may be able to assist with coordination
