July Meeting Announcement

Be sure to join us for the next meeting on Sunday, July 9th from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at the Pittsburgh Project where we will take it slow, and hone our skills with a finished edge, hand applique lesson.

During the lesson, we will:
  • View examples of modern applique quilts
  • Study four ways to prepare applique pieces
  • Discuss options for applique supplies
  • Learn how to invisibly hand sew applique shapes onto background fabrics
  • Practice what we’ve learned, round robin style

Scrap fabrics, tools and supplies will be provided. All you will need to bring is pair of small scissors or snips. If you would like to view/print the presentation slides prior to the meeting you can find them here and here.

It will be a fun, interactive and busy session!

Some additional items to know for this meeting:
  • Annual dues are collected in July. Specific details about options for paying were emailed out a few weeks back, but you are welcome to bring cash/check to the July meeting. See the Membership Info page of this blog for more information
  • Registration details for the Shibori dyeing workshop at Workshop PGH were also emailed out recently (check your junkmail folder if you didn't get the email!)
  • Gerry will be accepting quilts for the upcoming Quilt Company East show before the meeting. Please arrive promptly at 1:00 or earlier if you would like her to take your quilt at that time.
  • The next free sew day is Saturday July 15th, 12-5 at Carnegie Library Lawrenceville. Look for the eVite to be sent out soon!
  • July is also the last month to show your Inspiration Challenge blocks. Finished quilts for the final challenge prize drawing are due at the September meeting!
See you soon!
